Safe and professional interactions for enforcement professionals.  De-escalate and defend.

The training covers a range of human behaviours that officers can expect, from cooperative through to difficult and dangerous.  The six core modules are common across all our operational safety courses reflecting their importance:

  • Professional mindset
  • Situational Awareness and Dynamic Risk Assessments
  • Tactical Communication skills
  • Physical interactions
  • De-escalating verbal conflict
  • Recognising and Managing aggressive behaviour

Want to host your own course in-house?

We devote a significant amount of time to non-escalation through highly effective and proven communication skills and physical actions such as stance, proxemics and positioning that help keep an interactions low.

When people are elevated, difficult, or dangerous you will be able to recognise this behaviour, de-escalate or safely disengage.

When time or circumstances are against you, we give you a narrow and focussed range of skills to defend yourself or others safely and lawfully using passive counter-measures.  These are low-level but instinctive movements based on primal response motor patterns.  This makes these natural movements easy to learn – because they are already inbuilt.

The focus is on avoiding physical conflict through movement, breaking away if contacted, and protecting yourself if harm is imminent.

This course provides real world benefit by including a range of ‘everyday’ operational skills rarely taught such as entering property, approaching and knocking on a door, cover and conceilment, and safely interacting with vehicles.

Interleaved into the training are powerful techniques that can be put into immediate use, such as enhanced situational awareness, observation skills and reporting & recovery from conflict situations.

Discover what Victoria’s Natural Resource Law Enforcement agencies such as Parks Victoria and the Environmental Protection Authority already know – that CERT CIDT1 training is an investment in your staff that will make a positive, measurable, and noticeable difference to their safety.

Our training methodology emphasises integrated skills practice i.e events do not occur in isolation so as soon as the skill is learnt we combine related skills and then transition to practical role-plays as early as possible.

We teach the knowledge elements in a supportive classroom environment via presentations, demonstrations, real-world video analysis, and group discussions.

Then, we devote significant time to practice the skills using adult learning principles.
